Goldman Sachs partner Roger Bartlett is leaving the investment bank to run küresel financial operations at Coinbase (COIN), according to a LinkedIn post from Bartlett.
- “It’s time to embrace the cryptoeconomy,” wrote Bartlett, announcing the move after a 16-year run at Goldman, where he most recently led a team of about 2,500 as küresel co-head of operations for the bank’s küresel markets division.
- Coinbase has made no secret of its aggressive growth ambitions, saying in its earnings release last night that it planned to spend $4.25B-$5.25B on tech/development, and general and administrative expenses this year. This includes a goal to hire 6,000 employees in 2022, largely for its technology and development teams.
- Financial News first reported Bartlett’s move early Friday.
